Effective February 1, 1995, the continuing education requirement became mandatory to maintain an Insurance license for life agents.  Under this requirement, each Level I and Level II life agent is required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.  These hours represent the time that a person actually spends attending a course or program.

The topics of continuing education must be related to the technical aspects of life insurance that includes legal, legislative, and regulatory matters, fundamentals/principles of life insurance, financial planning, taxation, client needs analysis, proper use of life insurance products, rating/underwriting/claims, accounting and actuarial considerations, risk management principles, and provisions and differences in policy contracts.

The continuing education program is designed to be self administering.  Life Agents will be required to keep a proper record of this training for possible review by the Insurance Commission.
Please note : To remain a member of some associations, such as Caifa a requirement of 60Hrs every two years may be required for continuing education .

A website http://www.cerrc.com has been developed so that registrants may track their continuing education course completions from all sources. There is no cost to use the site and the education providers are required to upload the credits for professionals that complete their courses.  Course content and or its eligibility for CE credits is the sole responsibility of the professional and the education provider to confirm.   This site also links to all major education providers websites, enrollment pages .
